We Show Hope in the Way We Work

Last Sunday Discovery Point:
We show hope in the way we work

Last Sunday Key Verse:
“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” (Galatians 6:9)

Build It!
Nehemiah had a rough job! Check out how Nehemiah showed hope in the way he worked even under tough circumstances in Nehemiah 4.

Now it’s your turn!
Work together as a family to build something. This could be something as simple as a birdhouse from a purchased kit, or something more elaborate like a treehouse in the backyard, or even a Habitat for Humanity house! Check the following links for ideas.

• Sometimes things get challenging when you’re building something. What can you do when that happens?
• Why is it important to hold onto hope even when things get tough?
• How can God help us face our challenges as we build and in our everyday lives?

Keep a look out this week for people who are showing hope in tough situations. It could be a teacher, a neighbor, or a friend. Jot down how that person is showing hope and report back to the family at the end of the week. Use these positive examples as role models for ways you can show God’s hope in your own life.

When you’ve finished your building project, spend time in prayer together asking God to help you show hope like Nehemiah did, even during the tough times.
