God is Compassionate

Last Sunday Discovery Point:
God is compassionate

Last Sunday Key Verse:
“The Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love” (Psalm 103:8)

Slow to Boil
Gather the whole family together to make a spaghetti dinner together. Before you begin, let each family member guess how long it will take the water for the pasta to boil. Then begin cooking.

As you wait for the water to boil, discuss how the Bible says God is slow to anger, and how he demonstrated his compassion to the people of Nineveh.

Before you enjoy your spaghetti “worms,” thank God for being compassionate to your family. Spaghetti’s not the only thing that looks like a worm. Look for examples while you eat, thanking God for being slow to anger after each one.

Grab a pack of chenille wires (pipe cleaners) and let your family wrap some worms! Wrap them around your wrists, your pencils, and even your toothbrushes. Every time you see a wire worm this week, remember the Bible story and thank God for being compassionate and slow to anger.
