Helpers in the Bible: The Thief on the Cross

Past Sunday Key Verse:
In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of angels of God over one sinner who repents." (Luke 15:10 NIV)

FAMILY ACTIVITY
Ask your child to help you make a list of words that have to do with salvation (such as faith, forgiveness, love, heaven, and joy). Then inflate a balloon and write the words on the balloon with a permanent marker. Throughout the week, try to come up with more words and write them on the balloon as well. Tell your child that all the words on the balloon fill our hearts when we believe in Jesus (just like air fills the balloon). And, even though being a Christian is challenging, God is always there to help us. If your child is not already a believer show him or her what the Bible says about receiving salvation.
PRAYER
Thank You, God, for teaching us that we can speak the truth about Jesus even when it’s hard. Show us how to stand up for …

Past Sunday Key Verse:
“Her children stand up and call her blessed. Her husband also rises up, and he praises her." (Proverbs 31:28)

FAMILY ACTIVITY
Have a “Thankfulness Party.” Decorate a room with streamers, balloons, and other items. While decorating, talk about what you are thankful for and write each item on a note card. Then tape these note cards throughout the room as reminders of God’s goodness, protection, and love. Lastly, consider having a sweet treat together to complement the celebration.
PRAYER Thank You, God, for helping us stand up for others. Give us the bravery and strength we need to do what’s right. Thank you for loving us and for sending Jesus to die for our sins. Amen.

Volunteers Appreciation BBQ

Hello Parents,

For those of you who help out in Children's Ministry at CCAC, we have a Volunteers Appreciation Event coming up!

We are blessed to have so many people serving in all the different areas of Children's Ministry at CCAC, this is just a small thank-you for the dedication volunteers have given to the kids! 😊

Volunteers from Awana and Sunday programs are invited to the BBQ dinner.  Families of volunteers are welcome to join, but there is no childcare available.

Bring a friend!
Invite someone who has been supporting you in prayer, encouragement, or behind-the-scenes work as you served in ministry.  Or invite a friend whom you think might be interested in serving with Children's Ministry!  Take this opportunity to thank your supporters and share your experiences with others.

There will also be a BeaverTails food truck at the event for a special treat just for the volunteers!  So come join us for food and fellowship!

Sunday School Take-Home for May & Jun

Growing closer to Jesus goes beyond the classroom and church.
All our Sunday School lessons include a take-home component, these handouts are given to the kids or parents at the end of class when they are picked up.  It is encouraged that parents, along with their kids, use the handout to plan meaningful activities during the week to review and talk about the topics the kids are learning at Sunday School.  It is a good resource for families to develop faith at home.

Parents, if you did not get the Take-Home Sheets from the Sunday School teacher, or your child made it into a paper airplane and lost it, no worries!

Take-Home Sheets for May and June are available for families to view and download here: Elementary Sunday School Take-Home Sheets

FAMILY ACTIVITY
Play a little game of find the object. Choose a room in the house and find items that begin with the letters that spell MOTHER. For example, in the kitchen you might find "milk" for the letter "M" and "oven" for the letter "O." If one of you cannot name an item starting with a particular letter, that person must offer a hug to the other. Then, pick another room and do the same. Play the game periodically throughout the week.

PRAYER
Dear Lord, thank You for all of the moms in the world who dedicate their lives to serving You and providing for their families. Help me to remember how much of a blessing they truly are. Thank You also for giving me someone I can call my mom, and for all of the ways my mom takes care of me. Amen.
