HIGHLIGHTS
Past Sunday Discovery Point:
Helpers in the Bible: Silas

Past Sunday Key Verse:
"But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one." (2 Thessalonians 3:3 NIV)

FAMILY ACTIVITY Write secret messages to your child this week to encourage him or her. You may tuck each day’s note inside a lunch box, dresser drawer, or other place that is frequently visited by your child. Consider writing both words of affirmation and scripture verses on the notes. If your child is interested, he or she may also write secret messages to you. At the end of the week, speak with your child about the power of uplifting and godly messages. Encourage him or her to take the time every day to share a special message with someone who is in need.

PRAYER
Thank you, God, for giving us strength when we serve You. Give us opportunities to work hard and persevere as we help others. Thank You for loving us and sending Jesus to die for our sins. Amen.

"If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever." (John 14:15-16 NIV)

FAMILY ACTIVITY
Talk to your child about being a child of action. Take a sheet of paper and write "Action Paper" at the top. Help your child list three things on a sheet of paper that he or she learned about at church or in Sunday school this year. Talk with your child about how he or she can follow through with these teachings in his or her everyday life this week. For example, if your child learned about being thankful, your child could pray each morning and thank God for at least three things instead of just asking God for things. Put this "Action Paper" some place very visible…

Past Sunday Key Verse:
“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward them for what they have done.” (Proverbs 19:17 NIV)

FAMILY ACTIVITY
If you haven’t try this last week, do it this week.

Purchase simple reward ribbons or make some out of construction paper with your child. As you work together, talk about earthly rewards for obedience, such as extra TV time, a weekly allowance, or getting to do a fun activity. Assure your child that God’s rewards can be similar, but He also gives rewards such as peace, joy, and strength whenever we obey Him. God also promises heavenly rewards for our service on earth! Throughout the week, give a reward ribbon every time you catch the other person doing something helpful or loving. You may also consider giving ribbons to additional family members and/or friends to teach them that God rewards helpers for sharing His love.

And if this works last week, why not con…
