Names of God: Alpha and Omega

Past Sunday Discovery Point:
Names of God: Alpha and Omega

Past Sunday Key Verse:
“I am the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning
and the End.” (Revelation 22:13 NIV)

List the names that describe both you and your child (including actual names, nick names, and titles such as “son”) on a piece of paper. Then think about the different names for God, such as Lord, Father, Abba, and Alpha and Omega and write them on the bottom of the paper. Ask your child to think about why one person can have so many names (because each name represents a unique characteristic or status). Help him or her understand that the Bible gives different names for God because each name teaches us something about Him, just like each of our names reveal something about us.

Thank you, God, for being Alpha and Omega. Because You hold everything in Your hands, we can trust Your plan for our lives. Thank You for loving us and sending Jesus to die for our sins. Amen.
