Highlights Last Sunday Discovery Point: King David - Friends of Life
Last Sunday Key Verse: "A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity."       (Proverbs17:17)
Suggested Parent/Child Activity: Explain to your child that friends will influence the way he or she behaves - either good orbad. It is important to choose friends that will help him or her behave in ways that willplease God. Memorize the following scriptures with your child: Proverbs 12:26, Proverbs13:20, and 1 Corinthians 15:33. Sit down together and compile a list of traits your childshould look for when choosing new friends.

Daily Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank You for the friends You have given me. Please help me love my friendssacrificially and look for ways to help them grow spiritually, emotionally, and physically.Amen.

King David - The Giant Killer

Highlights Last Sunday Discovery Point: King David - The Giant Killer
Last Sunday Key Verse: "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for theLord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."  (Deuteronomy 31:6)
Suggested Parent/Child Activity: Although we may not face a real giant like David, each of us have giants in our lives thattorment us. Small problems can seem larger than life to a young person. Ask your child toshare any struggles that they may be going through and then pray, asking God to helpdefeat these problems just as He defeated David's giant.

Daily Prayer: Dear Lord, we are thankful that You provide solutions to our problems. Please give us thewisdom we need to trust your solutions and move forward in victory. Amen.

King David - Anointed For God

Highlights Last Sunday Discovery Point: King David - Anointed For God
Last Sunday Key Verse: "The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and theevil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of theoverflow of his heart his mouth speaks." (Luke 6:45)
Suggested Parent/Child Activity: Using a furnace filter, coffee filter, or oil filter, as an example, explain how we use filters toremove impurities. Go on to explain that if we are wise, we will use the filters God hasgiven us, the Bible and the Holy Spirit, to remove impurities from our hearts, which willhelp us live lives that will be pleasing to God.

Daily Prayer: Dear Lord, create in us pure hearts and sincere faith. May Your spirit empower us topursue righteousness and hate that which is evil. Amen.

Beware of forgetting God

Suggested Parent/Child Activity: During the next several days discuss what talents and abilities God has given you toprovide for your family. Discuss which talents God is developing in your children. Take afew extra minutes each day to thank God for all the opportunities He has provided.  

Daily Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for the abilities and opportunities that You provide. Let us alwaysremember that You are the source of our blessings. Let us continue to trust in You Godand not forget You during times of prosperity. Amen.

Your child's Sunday school teacher gave him/her a worksheet called "Scales of Time." Complete this activity with your child. Encourage your child to spend time with God on a regular basis.

PRAYER
Dear Lord, help us keep our lives here on earth in the proper perspective. Keep us from becoming enthralled with the things of man and let us not lose our hunger for the things of God. Help us to lead lives that are pleasing to You. Amen.
