King David - The Dancing King

Last Sunday Discovery Point: King David – The Dancing King

The children learned about King David, when he displayed his joy and gratitude as he brought the Ark of God back to Jerusalem. From David’s example, the children also learned that we should be unashamed in expressing praise to our Lord, not only when in church, but in every day of our lives. (Scripture used: 2 Samuel 6:12-23)

Memory Verse:

I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever." Psalm 86:12 NIV

Suggested Parent/Child Activity:

Read with your child the following verses: Psalm 63:4, Psalm 149:3, and 1 Corinthians 10:31. Then, brainstorm together different ways you can worship and glorify God. Be creative. Practice as many of these ways as possible during the week.
Here are some suggestions:
• Write a poem about God
• Observe a day of fasting and praying
• Play Christian music and dance to it
• Sing Christian songs together, or write some of your own
• Cheerfully offer your time or possessions to someone
• Watch a sunrise or sunset together and praise God for his majesty
• Draw a picture or paint a painting especially for God

Daily Prayer:

Dear Lord, thank You for teaching me the true meaning of worship. Help me to worship You with all my heart and not worry about what others may think. Let everything I do serve only to glorify You. Amen.
