Colossian - Only Jesus can Complete me

Last Sunday Discovery Point:
Colossian - Only Jesus can Complete me
Being a Christian means more that reading our bibles and going to church: Our day-to-day actions must also reflect our love for Jesus. Today we learned how our Christian conduct, or behavior, should be motivated by our desire to represent Jesus instead of fitting in with the world. And while there are many things that can “fill” our time, thoughts, and hearts, only filling ourselves with Jesus gives true contentment. His victory over death makes it possible for us to persevere and rely on Him. And because we know that God has our best interests in mind, we can trust His plans and obey His word! (Scriptures used: Colossians 2:6-15)

Memory Verse:

“For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves.” Colossians 1:13 NIV

Suggested Parent/Child Activity:

While shopping, teach your child about using a credit card. Explain the benefits (being able to borrow money, pay bills, or earn rewards) and challenges of using a credit card (having self-control, spending too much, having debt). Tell your child that our sin is like a huge credit card debt that we could never pay. However, Jesus’ death on the cross canceled the debt we could never pay! Lastly, if your child has yet to trust in Christ, explain how to become a believer by trusting in Jesus and asking for forgiveness for his or her sins.

Daily Prayer:

Thank You, God, for making us alive in Christ! Help us obey You so we can grow in our faith. Thank You for Jesus’ example and for His sacrifice. Amen.
