Justification - Grace Matters

Last Sunday Discovery Point:
Justification - Grace Matters
Being justified, or perfected by God, involves both obedience (the law) and grace (God’s unmerited favor). Today’s lesson taught us the necessity of His grace for our salvation. We could never earn grace, so God provided a solution for the payment of our sins. His justification depends on a perfect, sacrifice for our sins, and grace matters because it bridges the gap between the punishment for our sins and eternal life. Without God’s provision of grace through the death of His Son, we would never be fully justified. Receiving His grace through faith means we accept the gift of Jesus’ shed blood as payment for our sins. And through faith, we are fully justified before God. (Scripture used: Romans 3:21-31)

Memory Verse:

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” Romans 3:23-24 NIV

Suggested Parent/Child Activity:

Challenge one another to do something “impossible” to receive a special gift (such as flying in the air or doing five cartwheels in a row). The special gift may be a small treat like an ice cream cone or a small toy. After coming to the conclusion that the tasks are impossible, give your child the gift anyway and help him or her understand that it is also impossible for us to earn salvation on our own. Because of God’s grace, He sent Jesus to die for our sins, and when we believe in Him we accept the gift of salvation.

Daily Prayer:

Thank You, God, for Your grace and justification! Your gift of salvation is the best gift the world has ever known. Thank You for Jesus’ example and for His sacrifice. Amen.
