Holy Spirit - Jesus promises a helper
Last Sunday Discovery Point:
Holy Spirit - Jesus promises a helper
Jesus gave His disciples a wonderful promise – that a helper would come and show them
how to obey God! Jesus also told them what the helper would do and what He would give
to those who believe. The Holy Spirit is the promised helper, and He works in our lives as
believers: He testifies about Jesus, helps us live an obedient life, gives us peace, teaches
us how to love like Jesus, and guides us in the truth. And because the Holy Spirit lives
inside believers, we should share with unbelievers that they too can experience the joy
and peace of the Holy Spirit by trusting in Jesus. (Scriptures used: John 14:15-21, 25-27,
John 15:26-27, John 16:12-15)
Memory Verse:
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27 NIV
Suggested Parent/Child Activity:
Guide your child while taking a walk, making a challenging craft, or trying something new.
Give words of encouragement, love, guidance, wisdom, and comfort. After the activity, tell
your child that the Holy Spirit guides us in similar ways when we become believers
because Jesus promised the Holy Spirit would live inside of us and help us. If your child
has not accepted Christ, tell them how to become a believer and give them some time to
ask questions about Jesus or the Holy Spirit.
