Special New Testament Places - Cana of Galilee

Last Sunday Discovery Point:
Special New Testament Places - Cana of Galilee
Today we learned about a special place called Cana of Galilee where Jesus did two special things for the very first time. His actions in Cana of Galilee played an important role as He began His ministry on earth. Cana of Galilee is a special place where Jesus performed His first miracle and healing. His power wasn’t showcased before great crowds and important public figures, but instead it was used in front of servants and those who believed in Him. Jesus’ status as the Son of God was physically shown in Cana of Galilee, and it was only the beginning revealing His power on earth. Scriptures used: John 2:1-11, 4:46-54

Memory Verse:
“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.” Hebrews 1:3a NIV
Read the verse with your child. Then take turns “cheering” the verse to praise and show thankfulness to God. You may clap, stomp, or dance if desired. After performing the verse several times alone, “cheer” the verse together one last time. Repeat this activity later in the week to further familiarize yourself with the verse.
Suggested Parent/Child Activity:
Gather some items around your house that are helpful when someone is injured (such as
bandages, rubbing alcohol, antibiotic cream, etc.) Explain to your child how the items are
helpful to encourage healing but emphasize that the items themselves don’t do the
healing. God gives us many good things to keep us safe and help us when we are sick or
hurt, but only He provides true healing. Jesus showed God’s power when He healed
people in the Bible, and He still heals people today

Daily Prayer:
Thank You, God, for the special place, Cana of Galilee! Help us remember that any place
is a special place when You move our hearts to serve You. And thank You for Jesus’
example and for His sacrifice. Amen.
