Tithes and Offerings - God's Blessings
This Sunday Discovery
Point:
In today's
lesson, children learned that God doesn't want us to be selfish or
self-centered. Real blessings come when we are willing to share what we have
with others. God tells us in Matthew 6:19-21 to store up our treasures in
Heaven. (Scripture used: Malachi 3:10-12)
Memory Verse:
Do not
store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and
where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in
heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in
or steal. (Matthew 6:19-20)
Read this
passage with your child several times during the week. Spend a few minutes
discussing what this verse means and how we should apply it to our lives.
Suggested Parent/Child
Activity:
Help your child
start a "Heavenly Treasures" journal to record the things your child
believes he or she is storing up in Heaven. Review and discuss the list with
your child from time to time. You may like to create and share a similar
journal of your own.
Daily Prayer:
Dear Lord, May
we have the wisdom to store our treasures in Heaven. May we use the blessings
You have given us, to be a blessing to others. Amen.
