The Prophet Daniel - A Reputation of Faith

This Sunday Discovery Point:  In today's lesson we learned that Daniel was one of the many great men of faith. Although he knew that disobeying a decree meant death, he would not give up his faith, even for his own life. Having faith in God means to allow Him to control our lives. If we faithfully obey and give Him our praise, He will give us the courage to do whatever He wants us to do, or go wherever He wants us to go. (Scripture used: Daniel 6:6-24)
Memory Verse: "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance." James 1:2-3 NIV Memorize this verse with your child. Discuss what it means to be saved by grace through faith, which is a gift from God.
Suggested Parent/Child Activity: Discuss some of the many things in which we put our faith or trust in, on a daily basis. Some examples would include: 1) We have faith that the chair will not collapse when we sit on it. …

The Prophet Daniel - A Reputation of Being Humble

This Sunday Discovery Point:
Today, we learned that a reputation is built by doing something over and over. To have a reputation for being humble, we must constantly honor and give thanks to God for all things. There will be many times in our lives that we will have more than someone else, have a newer toy than the kid down the street, or get a better grade than our friend, but we must never look down on someone else because they are less fortunate. Likewise, we should never think that whatever it is we have is because of something we did. All good things come from God, and He alone is worthy of our praise. (Scripture used: Daniel 5:1-30)
Memory Verse:
"Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up" James 4:10 NIV Memorize this verse with your child. Discuss what it means to humble ourselves before the Lord.
Suggested Parent/Child Activity:
Read Proverbs 16:18 with your child. Discuss the difference between having a disdainfully proud or arrogant attitude verses tak…

Valentine’s Day - Love like Jesus

Last Sunday Discovery Point:  Valentine’s Day - Love like Jesus The world has a lot of opinions about love…and most of it is incorrect. Many people focus only on romantic love, but that is just one type of love mentioned in God’s word. Today we learned what is real, what Jesus’ love is all about and how we can begin to separate ourselves from the false attitudes about love and truly embrace how God wants to use love to further His kingdom. We must choose to sacrifice instead selfishness if we want to love like Jesus. Jesus, who never sinned, deserved endless blessings but instead chose to sacrifice His own life because of His love for us. Jesus was more concerned about obeying God by loving others instead of pleasing Himself. And when we follow His humble example, we show true love to the people around us! (Scriptures used: 1 John 3:11-24)
Memory Verse: “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sist…

The Prophet Daniel - A Reputation of Courage

Last Sunday Discovery Point:  The Prophet Daniel - A Reputation of Courage Children learned that God gives us the courage and encouragement we need to remain obedient to Him, even during difficult situations, pressure of worldly temptations, and instances of persecution. (Scripture used: Daniel 3:10-30)
Memory Verse: "Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love." 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 NIV

Practice this verse several times with your child during the week. This will not only help your child to remember the verse, but also it will help to reinforce what he or she learned during class.

Suggested Parent/Child Activity: Hold a family gathering and discuss in depth on what your family values are based. Set a strong foundation, a reason for what you believe, so that your child's faith will stand firm during turbulent times.
Daily Prayer: Father God, give us wisdom to know what is right and the courage to reject that which is corrupt. Ma…

Kidz Club - February Lesson

Lesson materials are from [The Gospel Project for Kids - Worship Hour]

Dear Parents:
Some time after the temple’s foundation was laid, the work stopped. With the encouragement of the prophets Haggai and Zechariah, God’s people resumed the work of rebuilding the temple in Jerusalem. Approximately 15 years had passed without progress.

At this time, Darius was king of Persia. The Persian Empire was vast, so Darius appointed governors over the provinces. A man named Tattenai watched over the province that included the land of Judah.

Tattenai noticed the work of God’s people, and he was concerned. He sent a letter to King Darius. “Is this allowed?” he asked. “The people say that King Cyrus said they could rebuild the temple and the city. Please investigate this matter.”

King Darius did investigate, and Cyrus’s decree was located in the Babylonian records. Darius instructed Tattenai to allow the people to rebuild the temple and the city. God had turned the heart of the king for His people’s …
