July Children Worship: Joshua Leads Israel
Joshua – Joshua Leads Israel
In today's lesson children were introduced to Joshua. The man God appointed as leader of
the Israelites after the death of Moses. Children learned that we can take great comfort in
knowing that God will never leave or forsake those that He loves. Today's lesson also
taught the children that they can courageously do the tasks God gives them, no matter the
obstacles that may appear to be in the way. (Scripture used: Joshua 1:1-18)
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not
be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."
Joshua 1:9 NIV
Practice this verse several times with your child during the week. This will help him or her
remember the verse and it will also help to reinforce what he or she learned during class.
Suggested Parent/Child Activity:If you have not done so already, begin giving your child jobs to do around the house. You may want to begin with simple jobs but gradually make the tasks more complex. Discuss tasks that you had in the past that were particularly hard to accomplish and how God helped you overcome obstacles and complete the job.
Dear Lord, we take great comfort in knowing that You are always with those that You love. Please give us the desire to meditate on Your Word day and night. May we have the wisdom not to depart from Your teachings. Thank You for giving us the courage we need to complete the tasks You place before us. Amen.
