August Children Worship: Hannah - God Answers Prayers

 Discovery Point:

Hannah - God Answers Prayers

In today's lesson, your child learned about Hannah and her desire to have a child. Your
child also learned that God typically answers the prayers of our hearts in one of three
ways: yes, no, or wait. And that no matter the answer, we should praise God because He
loves us and knows what is best for us. (Scripture used: 1 Samuel 1:1-20)

Memory Verse:

"I call on you, my God, for you will answer me; turn your ear to me and hear my
prayer." Psalm 17:6 NIV
Read this verse each night this week with your child. Use the acronym "JOY" (Jesus first,
others second, yourself last) to help your child put his or her prayers in the proper
perspective.

Suggested Parent/Child Activity:
Begin keeping a family prayer journal, recording the prayer requests of individual family
members. Leave space after each request to record how God answers the prayers.
Explain to your child that God typically answers the prayers of our hearts in one of three
ways: yes, no, or wait. And that no matter the answer, we should praise God because He
loves us and knows what is best for us. From time to time go back and review how God
has answered your family's prayers.

Daily Prayer:
Dear Lord, I thank You that You hear us when we call out to You in prayer. Please give us
wisdom to hear and understand the way in which You answer our prayers. Amen.
