Father's Day - Go and Do

Past Sunday Discovery Point:
Father's Day - Go and Do
The children learnt about the importance of honoring their word and following through in obedience even when they do not feel like it.

Past Sunday Key Verse:
"If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever." (John 14:15-16 NIV)

Talk to your child about being a child of action. Take a sheet of paper and write "Action Paper" at the top. Help your child list three things on a sheet of paper that he or she learned about at church or in Sunday school this year. Talk with your child about how he or she can follow through with these teachings in his or her everyday life this week. For example, if your child learned about being thankful, your child could pray each morning and thank God for at least three things instead of just asking God for things. Put this "Action Paper" some place very visible in your child’s room or living space. Place stickers by the lesson learned anytime they act out that teaching and talk to you about it. Check in on a daily basis, ask if your child has applied any of the teachings and encourage discussion.

Dear God, You are a great God! Thank You for the parents and godly teachers that You have placed in my life. Thank You for the Bible, that we can read and learn new things every day to help us become more like Your Son Jesus. Please help me to go and do the things my parents ask of me. I don’t want to just hear Your Word, I want to act on it and change how I live each day. I want to live for You. In Jesus’ name, I pray all these things, Amen.
