I Wanna Be Just Like Jesus - A Humble Servant
Last Sunday Discovery Point:
I
Wanna Be Just Like Jesus – A Humble Servant
For the next few weeks, the children
will be learning how they can be just like Jesus. Today's lesson was about
being humble, just like Jesus was humble when he washed his disciples’ feet.
(Scripture used: John 13:1-17)
Memory Verse:
"Follow God's example, therefore,
as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us
and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God."
Ephesians 5:1-2 NIV
Suggested Parent/Child Activity:
The opposite of being humble is pride
and being boastful. Being selfish is also not being humble. This week, help
your child understand the meaning of being humble. As you watch television, go
shopping, etc. play a game to see how many times each of you can point out
someone who is being humble, or the opposite of being humble.
Daily Prayer:
Dear Lord, help me to be just like
Jesus. When something good happens to me, let me not become boastful or
selfish. Instead, help me be humble like Jesus was humble. Let me serve others,
even when the job is boring or nasty. Let me be a humble servant. Amen
